What wine made you want to become a winemaker/start your own winery?
California cabernet sauvignons.

What varietals do you work with? Which varietal/wine is your favorite to make? Why?
Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosé, Syrah, Grenache, Petite Sirah and Viognier. Cab Sauv is my fave as it's the wine that inspired me to start my own label.

What vineyards do you source from?
Frankel Vineyard on the eastside of Paso Robles. Kimsey Vineyard Jorian Hill in the Santa Ynez Valley.

What type of oak treatment do you use?
Mostly new French oak.

What do you love about your winemaking region?
Consistent climate and the long, uniform growing season.

What’s the story behind your winery name / label?
It's my name!

What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about the wine business before you started your own winery?
Nothing. Just wish I had started 20 years ago.

Most importantly, what's so great about being small? What can you do as a small winemaker, that wouldn't be possible for larger wineries?
We can be more versatile and don't have to do market and demo studies to take on a new wine or varietal, which allows us to be more creative.

How do you view the future in the wine industry for small-lot winemakers?
Very good. People love getting to know the small producers and the people who actually make the wine.

If you had to choose another wine region to work in what would it be?
